The city council of Des Moines, Iowa, has declared a moratorium on payday lenders and pawn shops throughout the city. The intention is to put a stop to any new businesses of that type setting up shop in the city when regulatory legislation is considered. For the next six months, new payday loan stores and pawn shops cannot open in Des Moines.

THE THIRD ANNUAL BEIJING ULTIMATE SUMMER LEAGUE!

We're going to kick things off with a hat tournament on July 5, which is two Sundays away, at the HAPPY VALLEY fields from 3 to 6 p.m. For those who were here last year, we're on the same fields again -- check the attachments for directions and a map (file name "004_Happy Valley location.pdf"). Carpools will be organized next week, so keep an eye on the boards for that and more info as it
becomes available.

Hong Kong began its tournament with 13-1 and 13-2 wins -- the latter against the Beijing Ugly Trolls, a Big Brother split-squad -- and never looked back en route to capturing the No. 1 overall seed and winning its first team championship in Asia Ultimate in quite a while.
